IV THERAPY As a licensed naturopathic medical doctor in the state of Arizona, I can administer intravenous (IV) delivery of appropriate regulated substances as provided by law. This route of administration is useful in the treatment of disease when other means of delivery fail or do not provide a timely result. I employ IV therapy when the patient requires urgent vitamin supplementation or when the patient is unable to assimilate nutraceuticals via the usual route. Poor
assimilation happens when the gastrointestinal tract fails to absorb and assimilate
ingested products. IV administration
circumvents this loss of function. Chelation
therapy is an IV treatment that has positive impact on reversing the trends of the toxic
state due to heavy metals. The IV
administration of the chelator is the most effective way to accomplish the desired
outcome. Another
indication for IV therapy is dose related. The
IV administration of vitamins provides for higher doses then would be normally possible
via the GI tract. The Meyers Cocktail is one
example that I administer to patients to provide powerful relief for the symptoms of the
common cold and the associated fatigue. My
formulation of the Meyers cocktail contains a combination of Vitamin C and B vitamins
diluted in sterile water. The intravenous
delivery of five gram doses of Vitamin C (an unacceptable oral dose due to the diarrhea it
would cause) makes a powerful impact on the progress of the illness and directly improves
health via antioxidant effects on viral illnesses. Intravenous
vitamin administration provides a wonderful opportunity to kick-start the healing process
in a powerful timely fashion. When patients
are feeling the onset of an upper respiratory infection, intravenous vitamins do wonders
to improve their symptoms and promote a more rapid recovery in combination with other
naturopathic therapies. |
